The Healthy Retreat is a fantastic way to kick start a healthy lifestyle through fitness instruction, nutritional guidance, and an array of spa treatments. I don’t know of any other program in the UAE that offers such a complete program.

The great thing about this programme is that Katie is really flexible and you can do as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, and feel supported. The food was delicious and really healthy. I loved the range of activities and the people that I met- everyone was friendly and genuine.

The best healthy vacation
I read about The Healthy Retreat Company when googling health programs in Dubai. I wanted a program that combines healthy food, exercise and relaxation at the same time – so this program was ideal. Every exercise was beneficial but my highlights were the outdoor activities, especially on the seashore, like kayaking. This was one of the most beneficial and healthy vacations I have ever had! I spent two weeks at the Healthy Retreat Company. I have done similar boot camps in the past and had high expectations. I was not disappointed. Everything, including the venue, people, schedule, food and massages were superb. The results were also impressive. I lost a few excess pounds, got stronger and learned new ways of working out. Katie is an amazing coach. She puts a great daily program together but not only instructs us to do it but does it herself. That way, she has a good understanding of what people are going through. At the same time, she is also flexible and adjusts the schedule and pace as needed. Foad was tough with a hard work ethic (don’t quit) and smart training methods. I will keep the correct forms and the repetitions I have learned going forward.
All in all, I had a wonderful time, feel much better and am glad to have met some great people.

The people there are incredible!
I stayed at The Healthy Retreat for over a week and I was impressed with the results I was able to achieve. Not only physically, but mentally. For nearly 40 years I’ve been scared to go on a bike, but with the encouragement of Katie I managed to get on one again!!! It was like I had never stopped cycling! I also improved my swimming skills – a few years back I had lessons for over 6 months and I got nowhere. Here with Katie in only 5-6 lessons my swimming improved massively. I’m so happy I chose The Healthy Retreat, in fact I enjoyed so much that I’m already planning my next one.

I truly had a fantastic time!
Upon booking the retreat I was quite nervous as I have never done anything like this before. I was very unfit and worried I would not be able to keep up. Katie phoning me after my enquiry put me at ease and she understood all of my concerns. I met some lovely people and I have laughed, cried but most importantly got healthy, lost weight and feel focused and refreshed. Katie was understanding, supportive, pushed you but never to the point you wanted to give up. Good job healthy retreat.

Fantastic personal training
I only spent 4 days at the retreat but those 4 days were jam packed with fun exercise, water activities and clean healthy eating. Katie made the whole experience fun, varied and genuinely had an interest in my success. All the activities were really good fun

I had such a brilliant time!
Katie was totally amazing. She’s very motivational, knowledgeable and easy to be around. A big highlight was learning how to swim effectively and properly, even though I thought I was a strong swimmer before I went and I am still practising the hypoxic swimming that Katie taught me here at home, I feel quite the pro!
I really loved the boxing, and the kayaking, and even paddle boarding, I stood up for a nano second before panic set it but got a fab work out sitting down on it whilst getting some sun at the same time.
There were so many highlights every day. Each day I felt I was closer to becoming a healthier me, from making the right food choices and learning better, more effective ways to work out.
I came away with so many highlights that are easily transferable into normal life at home. I will definitely return. It’s the way forward for anyone wanting anything from a healthy break away from the hustle and bustle to a complete mind set change to improve yourself long term.

A tough but fantastic experience
Katie strikes the right balance of being friendly but strict in a way that suited my needs perfectly. She makes the environment so welcoming. Food is healthy and delicious – there are lots of chefs who cater for the healthy portion controlled plan. My favourite activities were the sea swims, gym calorie challenges and island walks. Katie is very patient and caring. When you feel exhausted she picks up the mood so that you can keep going! If she wasn’t so supportive I wouldn’t have lost the 5kgs and 12 inches in 13-days. I would have liked to stay for longer so that I could have kept losing weight but I have booked again for September to continue with what I have started.

You’re definitely in the right hands to help you move forward
I have to mention Katie, my (and your-soon-to-be) personal trainer is one of a kind. Not only does she ensure there variety in the sessions but also that there is adequate time to rest. She makes sure breakfast, lunch and dinner is in line with our weight loss program (and future new diet habits!) and she is AWAYS THERE. Whether it’s to listen to you the day you feel low, whether it’s to motivate you and encourage you to the end of each exercise, pushing you beyond what you ‘thought’ were your limits, or whether it’s to arrange bikes, kayaks or fresh healthy juices while you’re resting. You’re definitely in the right hands to help you move forward. Always made me think – when was her break?!
You can exercise anywhere. You can have a trainer anywhere too. But one who truly cares and believes in you and shares your weight loss purpose and target as her own is someone who will definitely help you in making those lifestyle changes that you’ve been so wanting to do.

A rewarding experience
I was fortunate to book during a quiet time of the year so almost had a 1:1 experience which was great. A WIDE selection of activities and there was always more on offer! Loved the fact that there were a few additional challenges thrown in there to keep me on my toes. Thought I would flag at some points but Katie was encouraging and never pressurised me into anything. In fact I was impressed with myself for all the extra things I did do. The juicing was relatively easy – a fab selection of juices brought directly to your hotel room and they were yummy! All in all a rewarding experience – it got me back on track, I lost over 4kg in 6 days and I have picked up lots of handy hints! Thanks Katie for your patience and encouragement – I will be back.

I felt both energized but also very relaxed when leaving the retreat
I spent 4 days at the retreat and was very happy with my time. The variety of different activities and sessions was perfect to get me more motivated and feel more passionate about training again. I really enjoyed learning the front crawl thanks to Katie, but also everything from boxing or cardio on the beach to tennis. The food at the retreat was very good – healthy, clean and tasty. And the spa was fantastic! I had a Moroccan hamam that I can truly recommend! My goal was to get more energy, spend time on my own and get more motivated to continue training back home which I have so far. I felt both energized but also very relaxed when leaving the retreat. A perfect combination.

More than I could have hoped for
After a few difficult years personally I had put on quite a bit of weight and become really inactive, unfit and generally unhappy. Trying to get back in to things and staying on the right track long enough to see changes was proving quite hard and from previous experience I knew that the retreats run by Katie and her team would be exactly the kind of environment, encouragement and motivation I needed to start getting on top of things again. However, I didn’t quite anticipate that in the two weeks on the retreat would change things around physically, mentally and visibly quite as much as they did, The results were more than i could have hoped for and we have both come home in a far better and healthier head space than before! Before the retreat, my husband and I were both hitting a brick wall with weight loss and getting fit again but with the help of Katie and Woody we both turned a corner. The location was perfect, the schedule was really well thought out and fun. Katie and the team were really motivating and encouraging throughout the whole stay, we couldn’t recommend them and their approach highly enough. It was also great meeting and hanging out with everyone else on the retreat, we had so much fun, everyone was so friendly and like-minded and we feel like we made some really great friends along the way. Thank you Katie once again for helping me sort myself out as much as you did, honestly you have no idea how much i was struggling to get on top of things before coming out to the retreat. You and your team made it fun and achievable and we didn’t stop laughing throughout the whole retreat.

Improves overall wellbeing
I am a serial retreater and look forward to when Katie introduces new locations and venues. Each one is different and with it comes a new experience. The more effort you put in really does mean results. It’s not all about how much weight you lose when you’re on the retreat. It’s just as much what you do after. I did my first boot camp in June 2010 and since then my weight has never gone back to what it was then. And as for my fitness, it’s incomparable.

Brilliant detox retreat!
I’m not good at exercise and I don’t enjoy it, but for health reasons I booked the flexi programme in Dubai. It was brilliant! The team games brought out a competitive side I never knew I had, and it was perfect being able to dip in and out of activities I liked or lounge by the pool or beach and work on the tan. Katie is encouraging without being patronising or pushy. The portion control is very strict but delicious and I found I wasn’t hungry at all. Plus it was worth it to lose 6lbs and 3 inches off the waist and 2 inches off the hips in just 5 days*. I’d definitely come again with the new friends I’ve made. Thank you Katie and Woody!

Amazing food and varied programme
I have thoroughly enjoyed my week in Dubai. A great location with good weather and the food at the hotel was amazing. My highlight was learning to swim correctly and something I will continue to do at home. The varied exercise programme made it seem we were not exercising at all sometimes. I’m a 20 year old, living in Saudi and I used to be active but got lazy for the last year, when I became stressed about life. The environment at the retreat was just right, everyone was friendly and there was a good variety of exercise. I’d recommend this to anyone – if you’re fit and looking to be pushed or if you’re lazy, podgy and a little worried about bursting into the next clothes size but horrified at the thought of some sort of boot camp (yep, that’s me) then Katie can make a programme to suit you. She firstly looks at realistic goals, sorts out the type of exercise you’re good at or comfortable with and challenges you a little so you’re not taking the easy route out. The location is fabulous, the hotel has excellent facilities, the sea is warm, the juice is worth trying! I’d definitely consider doing this again, and send Katie my warm thanks for helping me see what I could achieve.

The retreat experience truly changed my life
My goal was not so much to lose weight but to become fit because I was at an all-time low with my fitness level. I believe I’ve accomplished my goal beyond my expectations. I’m a much fitter, stronger version of myself and I love it – thank you Katie!

I had an amazing week on Marjan Island (just wish I could have stayed longer!). I left nearly a stone lighter*, feeling much calmer and healthier than when I arrived. The island is magical. Away from the hustle and bustle of Dubai, yet with the luxury you associate with the U.A.E.
Katie is a fantastic Personal Trainer, who goes out of her way to get to know you and ensure that you get what you want from your week. Unlike other bootcamps where I have exercised all day every day, this time I wanted to ensure that I also got some “me”” time to relax , enjoy the beach and recharge. I was able to do exactly that and still achieve great results on the scales.
The hotel and surroundings provide great opportunity to do a range of activities, meaning that you never get bored: cycling, running, walking, boxing, circuits, sea kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming…
I would highly recommend The Healthy Retreat Company. I hope to be back again next year!

Having spent 7 days at the Marjan Island retreat, I can safely say it has changed my life. The range of activities was impressive, with swimming (pool and sea), kayaking, boxing, kettlebells, gym work, circuits and so much more. Katie was enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. Amazing food and accommodation

Surprised by how much I enjoyed the whole experience
This was my first ever retreat. I was kind of nervous at first, thinking I wouldn’t be able to handle the rigorous schedule – but I surprised myself. It is amazing what willpower and great support can do, to kick-start your mind (and body). I instantly felt at ease with the team; Katie and Woody were informal and fun and we built up a great rapport and friendship during the retreat. They tailored my personalised sessions to suit my fitness level, pushed me when and I needed it and congratulated me when I achieved it.
As someone who dislikes the idea of intense exercise, I was totally surprised by how much I enjoyed the whole experience, in particular the group games. Mixing up the more traditional gym, swimming and cycling with fun sports was a great, it took the edge of what we were doing, and boosted us in the afternoons.
The Marjan Island location was fabulous, a wonderful hotel, delicious food, with the added luxury of a spa to treat yourself at the end of the day! I look forward to attending another retreat, and losing a further 2.5lbs per day*! Thank you!

Had a blast!
I found the Marjan Island Retreat action packed and lots of fun – such a great team vibe from everyone. Considering we were all exercising and working so hard it was amazing at how much laughing went on. Woody and Katie give it such a great vibe! I would love to come back again, a really fun way to lose lbs, keep diet in check and just look after yourself. Also found it so easy to continue after leaving the retreat. Has to be an annual treat to myself. Having been to a few retreats before, I found the luxury venue and team spirit really amazing at The Healthy Retreat Company.
